We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank-Modest Mouse (probably because of Isaac Brock's voice....)
Master Of Puppets-Metallica (dramatic drum producing...)
Badmotorfinger-Soundgarden (again an awful drum sound....)
Nevermind-Nirvana (oops....)
A Rush Of Blood To The Head-Coldplay (too many weak spots. although I never get tired of 'Clocks'...)
Script For A Jester's Tear-Marillion (again awful producing...)
Never Mind The Bollocks-Sex Pistols (right album at the right time, but I prefer the much more developed musicianship of The Ramones...)

Kid A
[quote/]

how does it feel like not to like the most acclaimed and loved album of the decade ?

I'm not sure that's entirely true... I think it'd probably be Funeral, if anything.

Not to mention, quite a few people on this site hate Kid A, including, if I recall correctly, the albummaster himself, so it isn't like Apple is the only one...

Kid A is (for the 00s)
1# in BEA.
1# in RYM
1# in acclaimd music decade chart.

so I don't think that there's any discussion left. Personally I prefer funeral, even if I like a looooot Kid A too.

also

Rolling Stone #1
Pitchfork #1

probably the 2 most significant critical sources of the 00's and very weird that they agreed on number 1 considering that they go for very different things consistently.

Crash won the Academy Award for Best Movie. Quality counts for dick when it comes to critical praise.

I still cry myself to sleep sometimes when I remember Brokeback Mountain losing the Oscar to Crash...

I don't know what's worse, this, Saving Private Ryan losing to Shakespeare in Love, or The Fighter and Social Network losing to The King's Speech. I mean, give me a break.

Kid A
[quote/]

how does it feel like not to like the most acclaimed and loved album of the decade ?

If you watch this video, when Crash is announced the winner, Jack Nicholson who is presenting the award gives a total "wtf" face, and there is an audible gasp from the audience amid the cheering.
I figured. Just tryin' to gain some sort of support for Green Day. It's not easy to find around here, despite their albums ranking decently on the overall chart.

OK. I'll defend Green Day. I don't think they are a bad band at all. They're far from being my favorite band of all time, but American Idiot surprised me, and Dookie is still a hell of a lot of fun almost 20 years later, and having realized that, it stands at number 80 on my chart. I can hear a Green Day song and enjoy it for its catchiness. They annoy so many people, but Nickelback is annoying. Green Day is just Green Day. Maybe I have a different perspective because I saw them live before they went to a major, and they were just one of those bands in the 90's that decided to make the leap from indie to major, and they became everybody's sell out poster chidren soon after. So Green Day took punk, or rather their more accessible version of punk, to the mainstream and were hated by the holier than thou punk and indie snobs. I never understood it. There was always a pop element to punk (Listen to the Ramones or The Buzzcocks), and punk was inevitably going to go mainstream as all things do (Look at indie rock). It just so happens that Green Day was the band that took it there, and is hated for it.

I think history will be kind to Green Day in the end. It's just a lot of people who were into American Idiot probably have changed their taste (it's been seven years - those 15-17yo who adored it are 22-23 now), and I've found people who are really super passionate about something are the ones who shun it the most when they get bored.

Once enough time has passed, people will start coming back to Green Day in droves. It's already happened once, with my group/generation, but the problem was their new style scared some of the nostalgia off.

I've never understood the venomous hate for MCR. I get that they aren't the greatest band or anything, but they aren't intolerable. Their lyrics are actually pretty good, despite the lead singer's somewhat annoying voice. If I had the choice of having to listen to Black Parade over anything Oasis, Green Day, Weezer, or Killers have put out in the last 5 years or so, I'd pick Black Parade most of the time.

Green Day have only made one album in the last 5 years or so. I take it you like 8 of their 9 albums then.

Honestly people shouldn't blatantly try to force themselves to like an album or an artist just because it has been deemed a classic. By all means, give it a few fair shots over time, but at some point it just might not be your thing. I mean 15 times for Kid A? Just leave it be, maybe come back to it at some point down the road, but don't bang your head against the wall.
