Nowhere did I say that the men in these bands don't play their parts and aren't great within these bands. But this thread is about 'chicks' not blokes and as such we are 'praising' the female contribution to music not the male one. There is no reason for me or anyone else to talk about how great the men are... not on this thread! In my list I think all the women in the bands I have mentioned are more than worthy of praise and are key contributors to the bands they are in and help (ed) make them great.

If you want a man-fest... start up a top 50 boy thread instead..

To effing right seriously.... For a kick off my list was loosely related to a discussion we have been having on the post-punk thread.. so was about the legacy of post punk with regard to women being in bands... even so I think the list stands on its own!

The Pixies without Kim Deal would be nothing nada nix... She is a Goddess so don't even THINK about dissing the Deal... 🤬
Portishead - I like Beth Gibbons voice and I think she is what gives the music its ethereal quality
Meg White makes up 50% of the White Stripes.
Slowdive - Again it is Rachel Goswell's vocals that give the music its dreamy quality.. (ok this may have been stretching it a bit but it does tie in with the post-punk legacy thing)
B&S - girls in and out of the band adding to the overall sound
The pains of being pure at heart - ok maybe a bit of a stretch there too (but again it fits in the with the post-punk legacy thing which was my primary thought when I was making the list)

There... done...

I understand how women are involved in all of these bands....it just seems like it's ignoring all the great work the guys have done in these bands. oh well...

WOW! No love for one of my favorite bands 😲

I must enter the #67 album on my chart 😁

In 1978 I was a big Heart fan and liked all 4 of their albums they had made. But during the next 6 years, other than a couple good songs, it seemed that the magic was gone for Heart and I, like many people at the time, pretty much had given up on them.

But in one of the greatest comebacks in music Heart made an album in 1985 that was amazing and I bought it and played the hell out of it.
