                          The phrase belongs to country music, I believe. But why care about how many chords you use, and why care about the truth?</description>

                          I think this from the punk fanzine Sniffin' Glue in 1976 is probably the finest example of '3 chords and the truth' put into practice...&lt;br /&gt;

                          I believe it is generally attributed to the legendary songwriter Harlan Howard. Great guy if you haven't heard him, although with a strong flavor of hay.&lt;br /&gt;
