I'd love to see this poll done again but excluding 'Loveless' and taking on some of the other suggestions people on the thread have made...

Giant Steps is my favorite of those albums, but although The Boo Radleys started as a shoegaze band, it's not a shoegaze album, more a psych pop/rock album.

Gold: Loveless - MBV
Silver: Going Blank Again - Ride
Bronze: Souvlaki - Slowdive

Voted for Souvlaki considering Loveless has already won and Going Blank Again wasn't a choice

There's no way in any universe that Giant Steps is a shoegaze album (it's a great album though)

I voted for Loveless as it is the superior album but Nowhere is fantastic as well (I think Souvlaki is a little overrated, I much prefer Pygmailion).

Yeah I don't know why anyone would think Siamese Dream is shoegaze but Gish would be a great choice.

Loveless >>>>>>>>>>>> Nowhere > Giant Steps > Souvlaki > Ferment

Although Catherine Wheel's best isn't even there. Chrome! But still. Loveless is greater than sliced bread.

😎

The shoegaze element of my album slowly slipped away when I made it... 🙁 (just presented it to my teacher today btw, and he called me a genius. So that's good news.)

But, for me, it's Loveless. 2cd goes to Souvlaki though 😄

I voted for 'Ferment' (although would have preferred to vote for 'Chrome').

With the exception of 'Souvlaki', I think the albums on the list either aren't shoegaze (for the reasons already pointed out) or are not the best examples from that band (Much as I love MBV, I don't really belong to the 'Ra Ra Loveless' club!)

As Davey says the results are no shock horror gasp!

Out of the available options voted for Slowdive, but am not suprised by the results.

1. Loveless
2. Isn't Anything
3. Nowhere

I think Isn't Anything is really underated. Easily one of the best albums (top 5 or 6) albums of the 80's imo

Including MBV is unfair.

My actual favorite besides them, Swervedriver's Mezcal Head, isn't included.

Voted for Ride.
