I really don't think so. I think Malick was incredibly lucky to scrape in for director (given how "un-oscary" The Tree Of Life is). and comparing The Departed and The Tree Of Life is tantamount to sacrilege!

I agree that "The Tree of Life" isn't a conventional choice for the oscars, and hope it wins.

Malick will win directing.
