Escalator Over the Hill-Carla Bley & Paul Haines. EOTH is a great jazz opera. Listed in The Rough Guide - Jazz: 100 Essential CDs (1999) and winner of Jazz Album of the Year 1972 by a Melody Maker Readers Poll and French Grand Prix du Disque in 1973. It features many fine musicians including:
•	Gato Barbieri - tenor saxophone
•	Carla Bley - organ, celeste, chimes, calliope, piano
•	Jack Bruce - bass, vocal
•	Don Cherry - trumpet
•	Charlie Haden - bass
•	Sheila Jordan - vocal
•	Ron McClure - bass
•	John McLaughlin - guitar
•	Paul Motian - drums, dumbec
•	Linda Ronstadt - vocal

EOTH's an album that is certainly not short period of time for listening! Album dramaturge pool as the brilliant radio play.

One of my favorite albums of all-time.

While I agree on being a little pretentious and overrated, I wouldn't go as far as calling Escalator.. crap.
What I absolutely agree is with Paul Bley's recommendation Open, To Love. And if you haven't already check out his 2007 recording Solo in Mondsee which is also great.

It was foolish of me to omit Kind of Blue from my list, it had been awhile since I heard it. I'm listening to it now and I'd put it right after Shape of Jazz to Come. It's a beautiful record.
