A bit too late on this, but yeah, listen to this album, it's just a lot of fun, playful, catchy, and will instantly make you dance. Samba-rock like nothing ever done before or after. It's a good one to start with brazilian music.
A Tábua de Esmeralda is tied with this as my favourite Jorge Ben album, but Força Bruta and the 1969 self-titled are also indispensable, which are both much more chilled records. Jorge Ben is one of my favourite drunk friends, hehe
Also, NoWaxJim thank you very much for your comments, I appreciate that. You're very sweet. 😄

Not my favourite Jorge Ben album - that somewhat sketchy accolade would go to either his 1969 S/T LP or Forca Bruta - but it's a sumptuous record nonetheless, and a perfect listen whilst sitting gazing at the Mediterranean with a beer in my hand (as I'm doing right now, so it goes)...

I've listened to it for the tourney, and it's very very good. Not really sure what to say though, I guess I should listen to it again, there are some parts of it I don't remember. Makes you want to dance.

Amazing album, with famed "Taj Mahal" on top of it all. A must-try for all you would-be Brazilian music discoverers.

I wrote this here in Feb. 2010 good god. Time flies.

Anyway, I still think the same.

Brun0 introduced me to Tom Zé and more recently Jorge Ben. I haven't heard this album yet however. But seeing how highly regarded it is on his chart, I will definitely bump this high on my to-listen list.
