Well with 53 votes (and only 4 being in opposition) I think we can declare this tourney completed.

1st place: Tom Waits
2nd place: Nick Drake

Just because the advantaged artist doesn't fare well doesn't mean the rules were fair. If anything, the fact that Waits and Drake were that close in the poll just indicates that the spoiler effect quite possibly did affect the outcome. After all, who's to say how those 11 Coltrane votes would have been divided between Waits and Drake had a tiebreaker been held?

That being said, I mostly agree with what Romanelli and meccalecca said. The tourney's for fun, nutso did a great job running it, and ultimately I don't particularly care whether the rules were fair or not.

I get the feeling this poll is glitched. I voted for my choice the first time and then the next day it showed that I hadn't voted. Thinking it was a mistake I voted again and now it's allowing me to vote a third time. 🤔

It's not even the best solo artist. it's the best solo artist aside from Dylan, Bowie, Hendrix, Neil Young, Springsteen, Miles Davis, and Van Morrison, since none of them were allowed in the tourney.

Anyone complaining about this tourney needs to take the head out of their ass. I don't understand the complaints at all. Coltrane is losing here when given a chance against Drake and Waits. That's not surprising at all.

And really...the three that ended up as the finalists would probably not be the finalists in any other contest of the same name. The final three would probably be different if you re-did the tournament right here. This is being taken way too seriously, and I believe nutso deserves better for the work he's done.

You'd get a better representation of that if you just had everyone assign each artist a score out of ten, added them up, and then ranked them by who scored highest.
