Thanks to everyone & enjoying the tournie so far, but just one question. In the match-ups, are we supposed to pick our favourite as the winner, or do we judge them on talent, influence on their genre, or other qualities? (e.g. an influential rock guitarist versus a classical virtuoso). Sorry if I've missed a thread somewhere...

I was just talking to Keith and Charlie, and we all realised that in a lot of cases we're unfamiliar with the guitarists by name but not actually unfamiliar with their work. I'm on vacation right now, so I could start it when I get back next week if that's cool.

I was thinking of posting 4-5 matchups at a time and letting them last just under a week, maybe 3-4 days. We'll see. I'll use the first few matchups as a test run, let it run and see when it looks like just about everyone is done voting and all that and work my way into a routine.

Corgan is a much better technical guitarist than White. I've never given half a shit about technical flair, just pointing that out to those who use that more as a gauge of caliber for guitarists' talent. White is also remarkable from a technical standpoint, but his greatest accomplishment to me is proving that there's a wealth of new things to do even with some of the oldest genres in rock's roots. Still, for me, I prefer Corgan. Maybe that's just cuz Siamese Dream is an all-time favourite of mine though.

Hey rocky, here's a random, asinine question: can I change my nom? I know you are all done and randomized and stuff, so probably not. Buuuuut, hear me out. I wanted to switch out Scrapper Blackwell and put in Lonnie Johnson. I believe they are exactly equally represented on this site (I believe I added both artists' lone album into our database). And I'd like that because honestly I should have thought of it earlier. If not, fine. Scrapper is also an all time great. Just checking.

Yeah, Corgan is much better as a guitarist than White. I like White for his songwriting ability; his guitar-playing is nothing special to me.
