I fucking warn you, these stuff that Smithsonian Folkways puts out are not some fucking albums that some label is introducing to world or sth; these are not products of mortal human beings; yeah you heard it right! These albums are real big deals in essence. They are heavy loads. These cannot be approached with post-modern and light-hearted attitude. These are distillations, extracts of the collective soul-searching and spiritual journeys of whole fucking nations presented in album format, a format they are not meant for. They are the culmination and evolutionary products of sounds that generations of awed people have put forth and perfected throughout centuries in an attempt to make sense of what goes around them and to convey ancient wisdom to listeners . These sounds have far-reaching ancestry that can be traced back with scholarly work (which has been done in most cases) and are treasure troves of folklore that tell the story and ways of life of generations of otherwise silent masses. These are cultural histories. Don't think for a second that you can judge them. You can enjoy them or else leave them alone. But this isn't one of those cases when you think for yourself "well fuck, the melodies aren't there, it's neither groovy nor intense. Rhythm section is off and vocal modulations are annoying and it's too long and boring and underproduced" yada yada.

"Well what do you think of 1000 years of cultural experience perfected and presented in 20 minutes of music?"
"I think it's boring."
"Then you can go fuck yourself raw."

I've recently become a huge fan of Smithsonian Folkways releases, having bought three in the past week alone. Any other BEA users enjoy the label's releases, and/or know of any that are in BEA's database?
The only ones I know of are two that I added and one that was already here...
