k, cool, this vote seems pretty set, so I'll solicit for noms soon. In the meantime, the hip hop tournament should be good to go. The soundtrack tournament was set to go next, but CubaZed is going to be unavailable for a little while and said he would be happy to move back a spot.

Unless I'm forgetting someone, this should be the current tourney queue:

1) Hip hop tournament
2) Soundtrack tournament
3) 1996 tournament (as soon as I collect the noms and get a bracket together)

There were several other tournaments discussed as possibilities, but I think we should give priority to tournaments that have already collected nominations and formed a bracket. However, if any of the owners of the tournaments in concept stage (song covers, genres, nations) want to start organizing them and join the queue, they should go ahead and do so.

1996 please, even got my nominations lined up and i'm determined to place higher than the 1974 tournament ... i-i am i swear. (not that that's entirely the point of these tournaments, but still my favorite year among these choices)

Yeah, props to the 1974 tournament. It was great.

My vote is for a 2008 tournament. Lots of gems that year.
