Capital punishment is much better than I remember, in fact im not sure I've heard it before. Really good actually.

Don't forget The Great Adventures of Slick Rick, Straight Out the Jungle, or Life Is... Too $hort. Not sure it's one of the best years in hip-hop, but there are a handful of classics.

Anyway, tough choice but I'm going with Pun here. It's too long, but it's excellent. Pun is one of the best rappers of all-time and, as much as I love Critical Beatdown (which is probably one of my Top 10 hip-hop records of the 1980s), he gets my vote here.

Capital Punishment is brilliant. There's certainly a humor to it "I'm not a player I just fuck a lot." I also remember how my mother looked when some of the skits were playing! Priceless!
