Thank you again everyone! I've been listening to these for the past three days and am about halfway through the list. These are life changing albums and I am really appreciative for the stellar advice. I'm gonna listen to all of them and buy most of them for sure 😄

I've seen Tortoise described as prog, so I suggest you check out their '90s discography, particularly Millions Now Living Will Never Die ("Djed" is def a prog track); if "Djed" interests you, then check out Directions' "Echoes." And then maybe try Back Door's first two albums, particularly their first (s/t); and Bill Laswell's Baselines. And then there's the gauntlet of Yes' Close to the Edge and Fragile, King Crimson's Red and In the Court of the Crimson King, and late '60s/early '70s Pink Floyd. As far as "scenes," the English "canturbury" scene and German "krautrock" scene are two you must explore. And for more modern bands, there's Phish and Dream Theater.

Thank you all so much!! I went through every album and artist that was brought up and made a long list.. I really appreciate all the suggestions as I never would've found all this great stuff otherwise.. I'm looking forward to listening to ALL of it 😁

Just keep in mind, however, that it may take a few listens to really appreciate it, but once you do...oh boy, that is one album you'll certainly want in your collection.

I'll reccommend some modern prog as others have talked about classics. These are some of my favourite all time albums. Have a listen to them; happily they are well considered over here too:

Porcupine Tree - Deadwig. If you like it go for Fear of a Blank Planet
then go for
Riverside - Second Life Syndrome

If you wish more symphonic and less heavy, go for

Phideaux - Doomsday Afternoon (reminiscent of Camel and King Crimson with violins, mellotron... and a concept behind)

If you wish more related to the Indie Rock movement go for:

Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid (though this may be more closer to art rock than prog rock)

If you end up listening to them please tell me your thoughts, though you should listen to them at least twice or three times, I didn't find them as great till I listened to them a couple times.
