Ugh, now I'll definitely have to listen. If it turns out to be widely loved by the BEA forum regulars, I'm not sure I'd bet on it topping Rolling Stone's list. 🤔

So I try to be open-minded and have the "any album can potentially be good" attitude, but albums released over half a century after the artist's debut just have close to zero potential for being anything terribly special. Like, I guess I'd give it a chance if just EVERYONE was going bonkers over it, but I mean it would pretty much have to be everyone. Just nothing about this seems terribly appealing.

Really? I'm surprised by this. I find the albums he released through the 'naughties' to be quite possibly his second best decade after the 60's. And if not that, at least as good as his 70's period. It's like he has a muse again - some would call it a growing feeling that he's become irrelevant in his old age, which, ironically, has brought him back into the spotlight.

I also find Dylan's modern albums worse than their late 60's to mid 80's albums but, come on, he's been so many decades singing and creating new poems. A bad album by Dylan is still worth listening to, and these Sinatra versions make me more curious than in the last few albums as I am sure it will be different to what he has released so far.

Well, actually, he has released a couple of tracks off the album already - ('Full Moon, Empty Hearts' and 'Stay with me') - and it does sound like he's cleared his voice up quite a bit.

Yeah, well...that's exactly why I think it'll be good. If not anything else, Bob's voice has always had character. And now, more than ever with his raspy voice, he has soul, the kind of soul that people approaching the other end of their lives can relate to. - And so, that, mixed with Frank's often melancholy, and human defining lyrics and melodies, I feel this album will be a success. But again! That's just me...I don't want to be hearing "I told you so" if things should go south. haha

only good part of Frank Sinatra's music is that he has a virtuosic voice for what he's trying to accomplish
only hit-and-miss part of Bob Dylan's music is that his voice is not virtuosic whatsoever so he always has to make the music around it deliver it as folksy and idiosyncratic and introverted and intellectual instead of cloyingly annoying

not sure how those two things can mix into a good album
