I find this album becoming less and less interesting with every listen. I really liked it on first listen...

I feel like the "genre savior" phenomenon (*cough*Kendrick*cough*) happens all too often in any number of genres, none of which have ever needed saving. Not gonna fault the guy for the way press advertises his presence, which admittedly is annoying as fuck

But I'm really sorry it doesn't please you. Next time, I'll be sure to ask you first whom I think a record sounds like before I write a passing comment in 5 seconds on "what album are you listening right now".

Mind you, your agressive comment wasn't totally useless: I will now pay very close attention to the similes you use. Don't be lazy.

It wasn't directed solely at you, two out of the three people in the sampler platter at the top mentioned Kate Bush. It was out of context from how it was mentioned so I didn't know it was such a passing comment or what thread it originated from. Apologies for being so aggressive though, its usually not my style, its just a baffling phenomenon to me and I felt compelled to mention it. I know some musicians (well, Grimes at least) have gotten annoyed with constantly being compared to Kate Bush (and Bjork) when the similarities are so slight.

But feel free to scrutinize my similes, I can take it. 😜

Sounds like the genreal consensus is that her Eps r where it's at.

I think I'm the only one who proper loved this album.

In this case I see the production as being just as important if not more than the songwriting - indeed here, the two feel like they're one in the same. LP1 is both weirdly intimate and coldly distant. I've never felt it was "hollow", but instead rather deep - I feel like I'm always finding new aspects in it all.

First time ever I use it on BEA.

It misses the point.

Does it, though? A top 10 album might showcase production, but should still have solid songwriting to go with it.

I enjoyed LP1, but I found the experience fairly hollow. The production is good, perhaps even better than the vast majority of other 2014 albums, but it's not enough for me to walk away from it and say to myself, "This is one of the best albums I've heard in 2014."

It might have been more effective if I'd bought into the whole "subtle" sexuality of it. The repetition of phrases like,

"When I trust you we can do it with the lights on"

struck me as having all the subtlety of a charging rhino.
