regardless of whether she's Kate Bush or Diamanda Galas or Aaliyah or Maria Callas or Lydia Lunch, she made by far one of the most boring albums i've ever heard. must every year have some fucking p4k darling make the rounds of some "minimalist" sound that strips all the sex out of a good genre of music? FKA Twigs for contemporary R&B, James Blake for dubstep, The xx for dream pop (an admittedly un-sexy genre, but it at least has crunchy guitars or propulsion most of the time)

It wasn't directed solely at you, two out of the three people in the sampler platter at the top mentioned Kate Bush. It was out of context from how it was mentioned so I didn't know it was such a passing comment or what thread it originated from. Apologies for being so aggressive though, its usually not my style, its just a baffling phenomenon to me and I felt compelled to mention it. I know some musicians (well, Grimes at least) have gotten annoyed with constantly being compared to Kate Bush (and Bjork) when the similarities are so slight.

But feel free to scrutinize my similes, I can take it. 😜

Wow! That's definitely the best track I've heard by her yet. I've only listened to the one album. What's that off of?

I think I'm the only one who proper loved this album.

In this case I see the production as being just as important if not more than the songwriting - indeed here, the two feel like they're one in the same. LP1 is both weirdly intimate and coldly distant. I've never felt it was "hollow", but instead rather deep - I feel like I'm always finding new aspects in it all.

I liked it well enough, but was massively disappointed given how much I enjoyed her two EPs. There is definitely a distinct hollowness
