<3 you both for those.

Excellent choices yourself, particularly XTC and Tuxedomoon of what I'm familiar with!

*Any Classical Recordings or Neo-Classical

Destroy All Monsters
(pretty pivotal in proto-punk, completely inspired Sonic Youth)

Malajube
(francophone pop band I wish got more love)

Smoke City
(underrated trip-hop)

Bauhaus
(get overshadowed by Joy Division and New Order)

Bright Eyes
(needs more attention outside of I'm Wide Awake, Conor is up there with Dylan and Cohen lyrically.)

This is exactly what i would have said, but his discography is chalk full of clever and insightful stuff. the eponymous is the best place to start though.

John Prine
James McMurtry
Alex Chilton
Phil Ochs

I agree that Elton John and Avett Bros are awesome!

Avett have put out a few great albums, but i do think their last 2 have taken a step back.
Theyre also one of the best live performances ive seen.

The Avett Brothers are a wonderful wonderful band and have been doing banjo pop way better than Mumford & Sons since before anyone even knew who Mumford & Sons were.

Also Ben Folds is a golden god.

Also this thread seems pointless, but whatevs.

About time I did one I guess.

And just to echo Norm's point about plug - Norm, Jod, dbz and I have been known to get funky on various occasions, so if anyone cares to join us you'd be most welcome...

Not to be argumentative, but all of these guys have at least one album featured on at least 80 charts. What would you consider to be the level at which they're talked about enough?

What Gowi said. For me, being on a chart doesn't equate to discussion.
