Neither team does much for me. 06 has a couple of good albums but shitty singles. 71 has better albums but the most overrated Mitchell and Gaye albums. It also has Stairway to Heaven which makes me want to vote for 06.

I do feel bad for Defago, getting wrecked when he actually put a lot of effort into a team, one from the gut, unlike, um, yeah another team in this match. I guess the bold choice of popular singles didn't pay off, but at least he has five. The 2006 singles were better than 1971's, but I have to go with Team Comus. Best set of albums so far, Applerill.

I'm halfway through this set. Sybelle Baier was alright. She has a good voice. Then I listened to Lisbon, dullest album I've heard since Tired Sounds of Stars of the Lid, on which album I have ranted elsewhere. Then, while I'm listening to Natural Snow Buildings, I get IM'ed this link:

Now when a bunch of children playing xylophones is more interesting, musically, than the album you are currently listening to, it's time to move on. Come on, 2006!

1971 has a commanding lead at this point, with Blue, and What's Going On. The Comus album was just beautiful. It was like I got a chance to meet the grandmother of all that was good and delightful about 70's music.

But there's still the two jazz albums to go for 1971. Now, I don't like jazz, I know this about myself and although I say it with a certain amount of shame, I have come to accept this about myself. My point is, Team 2006 has an opportunity to gain some ground. Still to go are Yellow House, The Letting Go, and then the Singles from both teams.

But Im voting for 06 easily. That team is heavenly (even with the last couple of singles).

Leaning heavily towards 1971, though if that Fullerton Whitman record is mindblowing I may be forced to reconsider. Will be back later to vote and to share more in-depth opinions on the two teams. I will say that I'm loving the inclusion of 'The Sweet Escape', though.
