That 77 team is pretty great, fantastic selection of albums all the way through and while singles team isn't as consistently stunning it's still very very strong.

Given Ive heard exactly one album from that 97 team, though, so Ill probably be abstaining. Very good and at times nostalgic singles team. For the understatement of the tournament, Happymeal def doesn't seem to be playing to win 😉 .

Oh yes. I kind of forgot about that. You're quite crafty.

Mercury, Did you just give up using The Clash' self-titled album by using "Complete Control"?

That's a bizarre move, but it'll pay off for this round at least.

I haven't heard a single album from that 1997 team, so I'll reserve judgement until I've checked them out, but that 1977 team is very good (if far from unbeatable). Excellent singles selection from 1997, though.

With 3 albums in my top 10 (including l'Ecole du Micro d'Argent) and 9 albums in my top 100, there's no doubt 1997 is my favorite year ever.
That being said, I have to give it to 77 here, the albums selection is top notch. The 97 picks are more original, so that's quite a brave move, but a mix of some of my top 20 of that year would have got my vote instead.

'77 easy.

Two of my favorite punk albums of all time. That LAMF album is the real deal and rivals even The Ramones for best NYC bubblegum punk. A teensy bit scuzzier & I like it that way. Been really loving that Congos album too since Skinny recc'd it to me last summer.

I dig Happymeal's singles for the most part especially "White Town" & "like Dylan in the Movies", but Mercury's albums are all classics of their given genres and diverse too with that Fela Kuti EP probably being the sleeper of the bunch.

Happymeal's team has that Camp Lo single, which I'm surprised to see, but apart from that and the rest of the singles, the only thing I've heard is that Charlie McAlister album, which was pretty bad...

..

Think I'll be voting '77 😕 I enjoy most of that team anyway.
