Mainly just bumping this cause as feared these would get a little lost in the shuffle, but have to say very very impressed with those metal (and metal-ish) albums from 84, hopefully can squeeze in some more listening so can make an honest vote.

I absolutely love those 84 singles, Pink Frost would probably able to get my vote by itself, an all-time top five favorite- but I have heard exactly zero albums from that team :mrgreen:. 2004 I also haven't heard some things from, rest of the team fairly solid, but likely will be abstaining unless I can go on an absolute listening binge.

Didn't really remind me of the Byrds; felt more like Miracle Legion with banjos and such than a Byrds record to me.

Seen him live a few times (with the Coal Porters) and he really is excellent. Not entirely sure why I've never carried out even the most basic research before, for if I had I'd be familiar with The Long Ryders by now. But yeah, sticking that on now. Got the others downloaded, so will get around to them in the coming days.

I only know two of those 1984 albums (the Saint Vitus and the Hitchcock), but they're both excellent. Unfortunately, they're not as good as the three best records from that 2004 team (Leviathan, Milk-Eyed Mender, and the excellent Long Hot Summer - mad props for including the latter Shane). Neither singles team really does anything for me, but the 1984 team is a bit more interesting. Gonna give a listen to the remaining albums from 1984 at some point before I decide. That 2004 albums team is very strong, but not unbeatably so. Looking forward to hearing what those '84 records have to offer.

Any tips on which one I should go for first, in case I don't get around to all three? Y'know, the one you think I'd enjoy most?

Despite that Mars Volta single making an otherwise awesome 2004 team into an intermediate 2004 team, it gets my vote 😁

The Incredibles soundtrack is a really strange pick. It stands out, but I don't think it's truly that great of an asset to the team. There's no way I can go against Joanna Newsom, Masta Ace and that Mastodon record.

As much as I love that Robyn Hitchcock album, the rest of the 84 team doesn't entice me too much. It's a bit lacking in diversity too. I'll admit that I haven't heard the album by The Long Ryders, but judging by the cover, I don't really think I want to.

Just a super quick FYI, guys:

The correct answer on the above is 1-9-8-4.

Holy shit that set of albums is heavy, sweaty, sexy delight!

And the singles are much the same - I mean damn! "Die Die My Darling"?!? Yes please! Also Skinny Puppy. That track makes me salivate like one. Just another great team.

I'll probably say more later. Mostly, wanted to help point out the correct answer.

(Ps no disrespect to that Shanespear/'04 team. It's sweet too! But yeah... Easy choice for
ME.)
