Hey thanks for the heads up, my people. I was thinking to myself when I saw "I'm Still In Love With You" listed as a '77 single (and a kinda highly ranked one) that that sounded so 60s, I was surprised and happy to snatch it for myself. Turns out my ears were right. AN the version I linked and the version I knew and loved is the '67 version. My bad on that. As for "Flash Light" I'm glad its 77, because if I ended up using it as a single and not the whole album and then to add insult to injury the single didn't even çount for shit, I'd be pissed.

The ONLY source I've used is RYM to be honest. I tried Discogs, but although I'm sure its a great and accurate resource, I found it to be a nuisance to use for getting ideas for singles and albums. Maybe I'm just dumb or maybe it also has something to do with all I ever use is my phone and the mobile site sucks, but I found it quite confusing to navigate around or get any useful data from it. I may consider checking on Discogs in the future however.

And you're right, Skinny, that AMAZING TVZ album was recorded in 1973. I was for the longest time reticent to put it on my teams for that reason. I just love it so much, I felt overwhelmingly compelled to go against my internal code of ethics and use it. I have a similar issue using the awesome Miles Davis live album "Dark Magus" at any time because it was also recorded in '73 or '74. So, there's that.

Otherwise, yeah I have to agree with everyone who's said that '67 team is solid. Props to Nick. I am amazed he never whipped out Moby Grape! I thought that is like his fave album ever.

On a personal level I'm not sure that RYM is the best source for release info. Citing the Alton Ellis example above, there's no mention of the original Studio One release on RYM, whereas Discogs do with around another 200+ single releases. But hey, from all this a) the '77 is totally legit and b) still the best of the two.

My vote goes to 77 regardless, since I prefer those albums just a bit more.

Definitely 1977, lots of 1977 copies on Discogs (this one, for example).

I wouldn't be nitpicking if this wasn't supposed to be one of my singles for my first week. It's possible that it was released in Europe one year, and America the next or vice versa. Not sure if I should just pull it from my year or not.

this. '77's team just oozes so much more personality compared with '67's despite it having some really strong albums such as Goodbye & Hello and Again. That '77 album lineup is just sexy as hell. Pinup material for sure.

Curiously that Alton Ellis track (a rocksteady standard and work of genius, as it goes) should be on the 1967 team, given that's when it was originally released (at least the version in the vid). As Nick's only got 4 singles, I reckon that he should have it too.

Really like the '67 team. The singles are all stellar (especially Whiter Shade of Pale, which I adore), it's got my favourite Who LP, and all-in-all is pretty solid album-wise. On any other day it would have won at a canter.

Having said that, the '77 team - with Pablo, Iggy, Kraftwerk and (for us part-time punks) the fucking awesome Gary Gilmore's Eyes - is stronger than iron. Like a lion. In Zion. Voted for them.

Hmm... it looks like this match will decide who moves on, int-er-esting. Still going 77, The Idiot and Live at the Old Quarter are unbeatable plus the excellent Trans Europe Express and Rocket to Russia, will try to get on that Augustus Pablo record. Singles team from the sublime to divine. 67 on the other hand is all quite strong but with little that personally grabs me, singles team is weaker than 77 by quite a bit.

Difficult to consider a live album recorded four years previous as being representative of 1977, but it's hardly as much of a stretch as, say, the Sybille Baier album that was used earlier in the tournament. Besides, it would be a shame to deny somebody potentially finding one of the greatest albums ever made because of a technicality. Seriously, anybody who hasn't heard it before should remedy that ASAP. Also, absolutely nothing on that 1967 team is on the same level as Trans-Europe Express, let alone the majestic East of the River Nile, whose inclusion alone would almost guarantee my vote in most potential matches. That 1967 singles team, whilst one short, is superb, but there's nothing I adore album-wise, even if there's nothing I actively dislike either. Vote to 1977.

'77. Both teams are really good, but one less single and the inclusion of "A Whiter Shade of Pale" slightly undermines '67 in my eyes.
