I need to watch so many of these. Overall I watch animated movies every once in a while, but only the popular ones, like Pixar, Disney, Dreamworks, and some of Ghibli's stuff. I really do need to go out of my comfort zone and watch some of the stuff on here that wasn't very popular but got acclaim from critics.

This is a film that I only saw recently, but it certainly would have been on my list. It's called The Painting, and it came out a few years back. The plot is respectable, but the artistry is really something special. There's a point around the halfway mark that really wowed me. Definitely recommend it.

And the other of which was mine, and it was top 5. That's rather shocking but it makes sense. It's definitely got more of a chick flick vibe than any of the other Disney movies on the list. Not really chick flick, but the antagonist and protagonist are both women while the majority of the popular ones have a masculine lead or badass villain that every boy wanted to be like as a kid.

I've decided to rejuvinate my movie collection with a lot of manga or anime or whatever. I just got Paprika and Princess Kaguya in the mail. Next payday I'm gonna get all the Miyazaki blurays.

Thanks again for the effort. It's really renewed my interest in animated movies as of late.

I must say you guys are quite the quirky bunch. I watched a lot of these for the first time thanks to this poll, as well as many others that didn't make the cut. Yet somehow after my extensive research there's still stuff I've never heard of scattered throughout t h bottom (lower ranked) half of the list.

If I recall, it only had 2 votes. One of which was my own.

I felt like looking over this list again. I don't understand how Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was overlooked. It's still the best Disney movie ever IMO

Wow. Rather surprised there. I gathered that it had as much if not more fanfare than any of his other films. I certainly loved it.

For the record I think it might have been me who ranked Transformers but I'm not sure.

Yeah, if somebody wants to do the 80s lets bust it out quick. If we keep going backwards the next 6 decades are far superior. The 80s was probably the worst decade for pretty much everything entertainment related. Just my opinion. I'd love to host something like this but until I get a new PC I can't. My BEA time has been cut from 2 hours a day to 20 minutes a day because my phone is lame.

I think this is the most interesting movie list the forums have come up with yet. Top 5 is basically perfect. I'm on team Wall-E as well. Best pixar film by a mile. My excuse for liking it would probably be considered either immature or offensive so I'll let everyone else defend it's ranking, as plenty seem capable of doing. Lots and lots of stuff I've never heard of. A little shocked by some things but nothing too downright offensive like the 90s list. Makes me wonder what kind of people you really are to be able to ride the dick of an accessible generic film like Shawshank and a dainty art film like Princess Kaguya rather evenly.

After discovering Hitoshi Kon thanks to this poll I was especially looking out for him. Did I miss Millenium Actress? Seemed he was doing quite well until I realized I hadn't seen it on the list.

I just wanted to say that Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker is the superior Batman animated film.

Yessss that was top 25 for me, absolutely wonderful film. Characters were great, and frankly that sequence where you see things going wrong in the cloud and it's all the pinks and blues reminds me of Big Hero 6's parallel dimension thing but years before it. Had to ask, did you see the sequel? I've heard mixed reviews on it but also only know like 2 people that actually saw it.

And for those of you snobbing off on Coraline, I don't get you. The craftsmanship that went into that film is ridiculous. Their attention to detail is unmatched. The envelope-pushing of that film doesn't get enough credit (first film to use 3D printers in the production process). As an artist, the entire experience is very tasteful and satisfying. Now, granted, I'm a little obsessed with stop motion. And, er, I got to see a lot of the sets and know people who worked on that film, so there's inherent bias there. It's also the film that inspired me to start animating, so there's that too. Oh! And that was the height of my Dave McKean / Neil Gaiman / Henry Selick / Tim Burton / Tori Amos phase, so there's that too. Also, ok yeah.

As for Studio Ghibli's dominance, I agree it's silly seeing Ghibli take the top four slots, but at the same time, those are all great films, and as I said before, I'd rather Ghibli than any of the other major studios that come to mind.

Take that with a grain of salt because I actually really don't like Pixar (please don't hurt me). I liked Finding Nemo pretty decent, but all-in-all, it's hard for me to go crazy for it.
