never heard more than 1 album of an Aussie band, so this is more my favorite album and favorite song (from the few i've listened to)

Don't Dream It's Over - Crowded House
Never Tear Us Apart - INXS (I know it's INXS ... AND it's a ballad, but still a great song)
For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) - AC/DC (a bit of a teen anthem for me)

My favourite are :
The Go-Betweens, for instance "Was There Anything I Could Do?"
The Apartments, e.g. "Mr Somewhere" (once covered by This Mortal Coil, for the new-wavers among you)
The Saints, "(I'm) Stranded", great punk single in 1976
