The Stone Roses, self-titled.

The Smiths....Queen is Dead is wonderful but to me their other albums are largely padding for great singles.
I really tried to like other albums, but i just could not enjoy them on a good enough level.

The Black Keys - El Camino
Daughn Gibson - All Hell
Echo & The Bunnymen - Ocean Rain
Roy Orbison - Crying
The Walkmen - Bows + Arrows (I like angela surf city, but not the rest of Lisbon)

I'm right there with you in regards to Daughn Gibson. I loved that record and didn't like anything that followed at all. With the Black Keys, it's funny El Camino is likely my least favorite of their records. With Echo & The Bunnymen, I hold Porcupine to the same high esteem as Ocean Rain. Crying is definitely my favorite Orbison, but feel like In Dreams is nearly as good.

The Walkmen is possibly my favorite rock band of the 21st century. Bows + Arrows has long been my favorite, but I'd think fans of that record would also really enjoy You & Me and Everyone Who Pretended.... Guess not.

I'll admit that, for the past few years, my favorite thing about Jimmy Eat World (other than how undeniably great "Sweetness" is) was the Pitchfork reviews. As everyone around me in high school was worshipping Clarity, it made me giggle that my critical heroes thought it was secretly whiny and stupid. Looking back, though, I may have been the stupid one, no matter how funny those reviews were.

Maybe I'll listen to this trilogy (Clarity, Bleed American, and Futures) over the next few days. I haven't actually listened to any of these in at least 3-4 years, so I don't know what I'm going to think of them.

Bleed American, I agree, is far away JEW's most iconic and my personal favorite release in their discography. I like Futures, Clarity, their early demos and LPs but nothing really comes close. But it most certainly helps that BA was reflective of my childhood and came out when I needed it to. It also changed the power pop game at the time, like Teenage Fanclub or Lemonheads did for the alternative scene at large this was it for the more "suburban" audience.

I gave it a re-listen following your post and still find it inferior to the debut. There are some interesting sounds and it's probably better than his post-millenium efforts, but still nothing exciting for me.

Dude for real? This is my favorite of theirs as well, though taking all nostalgia out of it I think I recognize I'd enjoy Clarity more, but I definitely think that Clarity Futures, and Damage all hold up pretty well against this guy. Took me a while to try Damage cuz ... well Chase This Light and Invented were less than my favorites, but it is a pretty good record in the end, Rocky's right
I'm not saying I don't appreciate The Bends, Kid A, In Rainbows, etc, nor even that they are overrated (maybe a little on this site, but not generally). I just think "OK Computer" is the only Radiohead album I actually "like" in the sense that I listen to it frequently, the songwriting moves me, the music feels emblematic of our times and struggles, etc. While I certainly wouldn't deny the innovative qualities of other Radiohead albums, I just don't really love listening to them, especially in full.

Down Colorful Hill is my favorite because some lyrics hit home and it's perfect in length for a slow core album. Rollercoaster dragged on too much, imo. The other albums, really I just don't know. I should relisten to them since I last heard them about a year ago. I heard Down Colorful hill this past September and loved it, so my tastes may have changed.

Down Colorful Hill was my favorite for a long time, although Songs for a Blue Guitar was my entry point. It took me longer to really really fall in love with the rest, but I have to say there's something really special about the entire RHP discography.

Anti wrote:

Flaming Lips: It's weird. The time in between hearing my first Flaming Lips album (The Soft Bulletin) and my next one (Zaireeka) was a couple years, which was when I heard the rest of their worthy discography (I'm not wasting my time with their cover albums). For some reason, after those two years the band didn't appeal to me anymore, but The Soft Bulletin stuck with me for personal reasons.

To be fair, Flaming Lips have gone way down hill in recent years, although I do like Embryonic. Clouds Taste Metallic and Yoshimi are both near the same level as Soft Bulletin in my eyes.

Different, but yet I can't help but feel their similar enough in which if you really enjoy one, you're pretty much gonna like them all to some varying degree

"Like" in this case refers to records I would give at least a 7 to.

Arcade Fire (Funeral); I guess technically I "like" Neon Bible but not enough that I'm compelled to ever listen to it again
Justin Bieber (Purpose)
Bob Dylan (Blood on the Tracks)
Boston (Boston)
Drake (If You're Reading This It's Too Late)
Eagles (Hotel California)
The Rolling Stones (Let it Bleed)
