The correct answer is 1971, but of these two then definitely '94. Illmatic makes Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) look like Yeezus, and that's (not) a fact.

I see what you are saying. But also I think the early-mid 90s was an amazing period for music. I suppose I feel that way because I love indie rock and hip hop and those years were in a lot of ways the height of those genres or whatever. Also post rock and electronic music and many others hit right at that time. I mean we're an avg age of about what 23-24 on BEA. If your theory of age bias was applied here I think that that would be in the mid 2000s. So, yeah, I've talked myself out of agreeing your statement.

Also, I think You should vote based off the music here. Voting doesn't mean you think these 2 or 4 years are actually the best years for you. But just vote on the groups' relative quality in your option compared to each other.

Yeah I think Dog Man Star (and really, Suede in general) is always going to be a love-it-or-hate-it (or love-it-or-meh) affair, and I just find it the worst kind of bombast imaginable... but that's just one opinion and obviously its viewed in many different ways, so just agree to disagree I guess. But no it was quite a team, discovered some new gems and some good surprises along the way as well.

OK I guess: Dog Man Star, Caught by the Fuzz

Don't care about: Cranes, Sabres of Paradise

Haven't heard: Ready to Die, Orange, Strictly Turntablized

1993

Masterpieces: Rollercoaster, Enter the Wu-Tang

Excellent: Tindersticks, Transient Random Noise, Passing Me By, It Was a Good Day, Cannonball

Very good: In on the Kill Taker, Julius Caesar, Cure for Pain, Lo Boob Onscillator, '93 'Til Infinity, Supercrush

Good: Souvlaki, Boces, Sugar kane

Haven't heard: Vampire on Titus, Archers On Loaf

Can't listen to any music where I am right now (and for another few days), so even with one masterpiece more, '94 looks slightly stronger as a whole right now. If I can miraculously listen to Ready o Die and Orange this week, I'll reconsider, otherwise I'll vote '94.

Yeah those first three albums on 94 are all excellent, but after that it gets a bit more inconsistent, and the prescence of Dog Man Star is personally a big negative. Still very good team. But 93 is often terrific and quite strong all the way through, so likely leaning 93.
