It is very beautiful. It is perhaps my second favorite this year after Ultimate Care.

I wanted to resist boarding the hype train, but this Radiohead album bright the freshness and clarity I wanted to heard in 2016 music. Freakin' great record.

Oh god, I had a look at the Radiohead Reddit page earlier and the lengths some fans go to with their theories over there is actually kinda scary. Like, where do these people find the time and energy to put so much work into these things?

Anyway, just from listening to the album I'd be extremely surprised if it were recorded live in one take. I just don't really see how it could've been - sounds far too painstakingly crafted and studio-indebted. I'd imagine portions of it were certainly performed largely live, of course with overdubs, but for a band and a singer to have got these takes in one go just seems way too optimistic, regardless of how good they might be. That said, at least the theory would explain why the new album sounds so vibrant in comparison to the muddy, excessively pored over The King of Limbs.

But regardless of whether it was recorded live or not, this is my favourite album of the year so far, not something I was expecting to say given my disappointment with the aforementioned last album, as well as recent side-projects. It's forced me to love Radiohead again, which I haven't done since In Rainbows. I wasn't sure they had another album this amazing in them, though I'm obviously delighted to have those doubts proved wrong.

This album is all kinds of excellent. Sits next to Beyoncé, Skepta, Moss/Sanders/Robinson, Jameszoo, Myhr/Hval/TJO in terms of the very best albums of the year so far.

I laugh because that's almost true regardless. I have an affinity for 90s and 2000s and have yet to break the 2010s (especially new artists... Radiohead's 80th album probably would make my fanboy list ahahaha). But alas I'm respecting my commitment and waiting to listen to this.

It's definitely their best since In Rainbows. But I definitely wouldn't put it at Kid A/The Bends/In Rainbows/OK Computer level just yet. It's AOTY so far for me, although Blackstar is a close second. This entire year looks like it's gonna be badass actually. Oh yeah, downloaded it then started listening to Talking Heads and William Basinski instead and forgot this was out, oops, I'll get to it later, I'll probably enjoy it enough to crack my top 100 of the year based on the singles I imagine.
