1. I'd have to start with totally overhauling my year, decade and overall charts.

2. I was trying towards the end of 2025 to get more discussion going on the threads so going to try to up that.

3. I'm not that knowledgeable about jazz so I want to improve my knowledge for that genre

4. Embrace every opportunity to see live music. I ducked out of a few gigs last year which I really regret

5. Expand my University of the 3rd Age listening groups. Currently in five

2026 is when new music from James Otto will finally be released. I also look forward to new music from Mason Ramsey and John Foster from last year's American Idol show. 😄 😄 😄

Happy new year as well 🥳 From a music point of view, want to get a bit deeper into jazz and classical but also want to keep on top of current year releases as best I can. It would be great to get a 2026 listening club going that I can dip in and out of. Quite enjoy following along even if I don’t get time to post sometimes (hopefully that’ll change at some point).

Didn't end up making many BEA year charts. I think I'm just not in the mood to make charts lately, and will have to wait until it comes back. It's also a lot easier to make a chart for a brand-new year one album at a time, instead of ranking dozens of previously heard albums at once.

Explored Turkish music a little more, but not extensively.

Made a few more playlists, so I guess that was the most successful resolution.

I got 1000 Recordings To Hear Before You Die for Christmas, so now that I have both it and 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die (see thread), my music resolution for 2026 will be to explore new albums from both books.

Main reason I want to shoot some recs here is because I beleive (hate me all you want) Turkey has a much higher miss-to-hit ratio than average. Hoping this helps sift through a bit. And while I'd vouch for their 'Turkishness', Altın Gün are technically Dutch, but giants in the modern Anatolian Rock scene.

Well... Two years ago I (re?)-organized my MP3s, but last year I couldn't figure out why I bothered, until very late in the year when I realized that "organize" is not the same thing as "de-duplicate" or "qualitatively grade." Or, at least those two things don't happen automatically as a result of proper organization.

So my 2025 goals are to do those things, plus I want to get back into vinyl-ripping at some point or other. Maybe I'll start a BEA "vinyl-rip diary" to accompany the vinyl-ripping, since I haven't seen anyone else do that around here (which probably means it's a dumb idea, but hey, nobody ever said I wasn't full of dumb ideas).

Still, I wouldn't call these "resolutions," because if they don't happen I probably won't be mentally harmed all that much. My only real resolution this year is to clean my garage, which will probably take me about 2-3 years.

For the first resolution, I now have up-to-date charts published for 38 out of 75 years, with 2 more in progress. I only published four of those in 2024, so I didn't come particularly close. For the second resolution, I got halfway there with six albums. Resolutions 3 and 4 were both successes. I loved seeing Mitski, Camera Obscura, and The Lemon Twigs, and went to several other enjoyable concerts.

Be more engaged in those 2 BEA games I like (album below you and album below you canon edition)
