I've always thought both were overrated. Let it Be Beatles is far from their greatest. It has some good songs but a crap load of it is very much second or third rate and barely listenable, really. The Replacements are the quintessential garage band but there is some good songwriting there for sure, notably Androgynous and Unsatisfied. Cornered, I would give the nod to PW and the 'Mats.

🤣 🤣

I think I broke Gowi.

Sorry, mate, I was mostly kidding.

I suppose what I meant and tongue in cheek was saying is that if I go ask a random person on the street who they were and asked them to name a song or album from them... they'd probably mistake them for The Pretenders. If I asked them who the Beatles were, they'd most likely know a bit about them and get it right.

But in all honesty, I'm equally ignorant about the so I appreciate The Hutts' comment. Thanks!

One of the most important and iconic alternative rock bands of all time are given a shrug and a "who?" -- I still cannot process this, oh my god.

On your charts you really like early R.E.M. and Nirvana, so I'd imagine you'd enjoy them. They started out as a punk band, but by 1984 they're alternative rock with heartfelt songwriting. On the BEA charts, their three most acclaimed albums, Let It Be, Tim, and Pleased To Meet Me, are rightfully all in the top 1000.

Are you talking about the Replacements' cover of 'Let It Be' on their 1984 bootleg The S*** Hits The Fans?

Not crazy about either. Replacements maybe.

That sounds more accurate.

Agreed The Replacements Let it Be smokes The Beatles edition. If The Beatles Let it Be wins, I won't really be surprised or care, but if I did, maybe I would take some solace in the possibility that Across the Universe was probably among the influences to Neutral Milk Hotel's extraordinary In the Aeroplane Over the Sea.

Replacements! I can't believe this has been close before. Well I can, because it's The Beatles. But really, this should be no contest. I think it's highly unlikely that a high percentage of people would choose Let it Be (by The Beatles) if it were by another band -- imho.

For me, in a Beatles vs. X poll, the Beatles will usually lose.

This is an exception.

Interestingly, when I vote against the fabs, I'm always in the minority. Now that I vote for them, I'm still in the minority ❗

Apologies - I did do a search for it first, but couldn't pick it up. Looks like it was close enough that a recount doesn't hurt.

No problem...I just thought that a look at the previous poll would be fun and helpful.
