This is an unfortunate match up, because I really do love To the Nameless Dead (possibly my second favourite album still remaining) and it's always good to see an underdog that I love go this far. But yeah, Dopethrone of course wins for me, being my nomination and probably my favourite metal album ever, and I'm sure that it can go on to win from here.

As I explained in too much detail in the Slayer vs. Sir Lord Baltimore thread, I am looking at the RYM ranks of all the remaining 8 albums for more context on the matches. Not for my vote, I vote based off what I like the most. But just for fun. I think, personally an actual seeded bracket would have been better and I would have based it off the RYM ranks of each album. But I digress.

Dopethrone is ranked 26 among all metal albums on RYM and the Primordial album is 90. Both highly respected. But one has a clear edge and is clearly a favorite in BEA circles. And if it wasn't for the insanity of having Kingdom Come come this far, Primordial would be the Cinderella in the last 8.

As for my vote, I voted for "To The Nameless Dead". Right after casting my vote I second guessed myself. I went back and relistened to both albums today, and I can say I probably like Dopethrone slightly more. Although Primordial has been one of the better discoveries for me thanks to this tournament. And I don't think my mistaken vote will matter here in the end. Dopethrone is a modern classic. And maybe a frontrunner to pull off the overall tourney win. We shall see. It's a vicious, disgustingly angry album . But i love how that emotion is communicated. Not through sheer speed and aggressive thrash, but through slow, crushing heaviness mixed with some of the most venomous and angry vocals I've heard on any album ever.

Primordial is great too. I actually enjoy the vocals. Anyone else hear a similarity between his vocals and the lead singer of the Walkmen? Is that just me? Anyway, as much as I enjoy the vocals, the music I love even more. It's epic, fiery and nuanced and at times truly gorgeous.

Well, I didn't expect To the Nameless Dead to get this far in the tourney, considering that out of all my noms, I expected that it wouldn't make it past round 2. I voted for it in hopes for some kind of outrageous miracle to happen, but hey, if I'm going to lose to something, at least I'll lose to a worthy competitor like Dopethrone.

ah, who am I kidding? this was already over before it even started.
