As Tap says, it's not that straight forward on BEA as ratings are not the main focus of the site. If you wanted to do this, the easiest way I can think of would be to go to the overall chart page and sort it by number of ratings. You could then export this list to CSV and manually remove the duplicate artists using Excel's functionality.

EDIT: I've now added an extra column to the standard CSV exports to include the number of ratings by default. So, if you now download the overall chart it'll include 10,000 entries as well as the number of ratings column. You could sort this in Excel and remove the duplicates.

hmm well the overall chart doesn't go by the star ratings, it goes by the rank score based on charts of member and from publications all time lists. if you're ok with that, you can download the csv on there and import it into excel. though you won't be able to find the next things after duplicates are removed, you'll be limited to that initial 1000. if you do want to go by ratings, you can customize the overall chart for that, and then download the csv from that link.

I know this is might be a lot to ask, but...

I would like someone to give me a list of the top 1000 albums on BEA by number of ratings (probably via Excel), but here's the catch that can't be easily done with the website's features: each individual artist may only appear once, including artists linked by parent or child acts. For example, if Velvet Underground & Nico already made an appearance on the list, then Velvet Underground can't.

So, instead of the list for the top 10 albums by number of ratings going like this:

1. Radiohead - OK Computer
2. Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon
3. The Beatles - Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
4. The Beatles - Revolver
5. Nirvana - Nevermind
6. The Beatles - Abbey Road
7. Radiohead - Kid A
8. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV
9. Radiohead - The Bends
10. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

it would go like this:

1. Radiohead - OK Computer
2. Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon
3. The Beatles - Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
4. Nirvana - Nevermind
5. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV
6. Arcade Fire - Funeral
7. Velvet Underground & Nico - Velvet Underground & Nico
8. David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
9. The Clash - London Calling
10. Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

I would imagine the hard part would be to somehow transfer data from BEA directly over to an Excel sheet. After that, you can simply highlight the artists column and click "remove duplicates".

This is a multi-faceted project taking in data, both fan-based and critical, from a variety of sources, most notably AcclaimedMusic. This part of the project is just rank artists depending on the fan-based popularity of their single strongest album, even if they never produced another one. (Lauryn Hill, for example). Anyone think they can help me?
