The volume of ratings is already somewhat taken into account as it's a Bayesian average and not an arithmetic mean. If we started awarding points, I think there might be some strange side effects such as popular items with large number of low ratings ranking much higher than items with a higher average (but a lot smaller number of ratings).

Please delete if it's been asked already: could this site allow some (quarter or less) point for each song rating ? Wouldn't it strengthen the song ranking ?
