Yep - got about 70-odd things listed at the moment (click link in my sig to see what) and sold around 180 things on there over the years. CDs rarely go for decent money unless it’s something niche or ‘rare’. Best advice I would give is to check to see how many people want it first - if it outweighs those who have added it to their collection you’re likely going to get a bite. And although it’s (very slightly) less than eBay, Discogs (and PayPal) will still take their cut. That said, I sold a £15 LP for £100 on there last week, so it’s definitely worth persevering with. Although I warn you now you’d be lucky to get more than pennies for a well-known album on CD from the 90s onwards (Dido, for example).

Yard sales/car boots/call them what you will might be a better option otherwise. Or Facebook Marketplace - sold a few things on there without having to pay commission to anyone!

My Ikea Gnedby shelves have enough room for 30 CDs per year.

As much as I like singer/songwriter type stuff, I gave these a spin today and decided they’re just too vanilla, and don’t deserve a place...

Drive by Bic Runga

No Angel by Dido

They’re off to the “sell” box with 100+ others.

eBay is hardly worth it, with 15% selling fees plus PayPal fees. Thinking I might try selling on Discogs for a change. Anyone else sell there?

Can you still get bovril? A staple of half time at 70’s football match at St. Andrews (Birmingham City) in the winter.

Off to be flogged...

Viet Cong by Viet Cong

Gatefold sleeve was clogging up space. Meh.

Violator by Depeche Mode

Picked up a while ago from some dopehead. Record still has faint aroma of gear. Enjoy The Silence aside happy to see the back of it.

And a Spiritualized 12" which is warped factor 9. Some mug'll buy it.

See ya!

Perverted By Language by The Fall

CD of a Fall album which I had the original LP of anyway. Gone off via Discogs to Bath (not for a bath).

Also ditching a Suede 12" that it looks like someone tipped their Bovril over.

Ta-ta to:

Disraeli Gears by Cream

Original UK mono press which I picked up for peanuts from the middle of nowhere. Think I'd listened to it a couple of times and doubt I ever would again. Put it on Gumtree and it went within 15 minutes (so maybe I let it go for too low a price), but in any event sold on for a tidy profit and reinvested immediately in some more spiritual jazz. What's going on?

Ta-ta to:

Republic by New Order

I've tried and tried, but "Regret" aside still can't bloody stand it.

And this:

Paragons & Friends by John Holt

Which I picked up for a quid and is scratched to fuck. Wasn't all that anyway.

Having a clearout as I've run out of space for my records (again). 1300 LPs seems like a logical point to start the cull. More de-cluttering news to follow.

Ta-ta to these records clogging up space:

Unconditionally Guaranteed by Captain Beefheart And His Magic Band

Picked up for peanuts a few months back. Never liked it so sold on.

Rock N Roll Animal by Lou Reed

Meh. Owned for nearly 20 years, spun it the other day. Did nowt for me. Flogged.

Uprising by Bob Marley And The Wailers

‘Reggae’ shelf needed space.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles

70s stereo. In really good nick but no need for 2 copies when I’ve got a nigh-on mint 60s mono sitting under lock and key. Sold to a plummer.

Passed Me By by Andy Stott

Bag o’shite. Gone to Germany

One of at least 20 McCartney recordings since 1975 that was billed as his next great album but never was...

Original Reaction press - bought for £3, sold for £40. Never liked it anyway

Would the original Reaction press be the US version with Happy Jack or the UK version?

Original UK mono, without Happy Jack

Glad this thread has made a comeback...

Sold this week via Gumtree:

Wolf City by Amon Düül II

Scratched to buggery, first track on each side skipped. Still got a tenner for it.

The Immaculate Collection by Madonna

Got an age ago with a job lot I acquired, sleeve had water damage and I never listened to it so off it went...

Devil's Night by D12

Bought for £3, hated it, sold for a tenner

Tom Tom Club by Tom Tom Club

Saw it for cheap, so upgraded and flogged on the spare for 3 times what it cost me.

Damn, I love this thought of getting rid of music you don't care about. A cool counter to the forum that tells you what you got. 🤣

Lazer Guided Melodies by Spiritualized

Shifted on my 2nd copy. Original press, but warped and sounds naff. People will buy anything

Thumbnail. Click to enlarge.

New Boots and Panties!! by Ian Dury

Never liked it - flogged for 300% more than I paid for it

Thumbnail. Click to enlarge.

East Of The River Nile by Augustus Pablo

Got the LP for cheap so flogged the CD I never listen to to a guy in Prague

Thumbnail. Click to enlarge.

The Big Huge by The Incredible String Band

Another car boot purchase I never really got on with - bought off a hippie who drove a red VW camper

Plus some Jurassic 5 12", a compilation of Brazilian house mixes which I bought for one track, some obscure reggae I got from a car boot sale and a naff Beres Hammond LP. Just shy of £80 made, which is going to be reinvested at the Independent Label Market in London this Saturday...

Do cassettes count? Because I just got rid of my last few boxes of cassettes this weekend. My very last stereo system that had a cassette player finally broke down so I decided to not hang on to cassettes anymore and gave them to my neighbor. Most of them I bought used for like a buck anyways. There were a lot of good ones in there but I also have them on CD so it didn't matter. There was some good ones too. The newest ones were from the mid 90s. These are some of the best ones:

David Bowie. Outside
Laurie Anderson. Bright Red
Aphex Twin. I Care Because You Do
Orbital. The Saint Soundtrack
Chemical Brothers Dig Your Own Hole
L7. Hungry for Stink
Stereolab. Sound Dust
Ned's Atomic Dustbin. God Fodder, R U Normal?
Galaxie 500. Today
Cocteau Twins. Milk n Kisses, Pink Opaque
Eno n Cluster
Luna. Pup Tent
PJ Harvey. To Bring u my love

Those are what i can remember were in there. Some pretty good ones, ain't it??
Then the rest were tons of 80s n 70s crap. A couple hundred.
