Yes, sounds like a good way of doing it. I've now reversed out the change, and will add the blurb a bit later.

How about this? A simple blurb to show directly underneath the rating on any item on the site with less than 10 ratings.

"Please note that because this item has been rated less than 10 times, the overall rating you see may not be accurate."

When the item hits 10 ratings, the blurb goes away.

Can that be done?

I can reverse the change if it's unpopular, but the average is not very reliable when only two ratings have been added.

Really, showing a rating average for charts with less than ten ratings is considered a bug? This means very few decade or year charts will ever show an average. That's disappointing. I think I liked it better when it was still a "bug."

It's a Bayesian average and not a mean average.

EDIT: Fixed a bug where the average rating was displayed for items with less than ten ratings (averages should only be shown once enough data has been added).

I just rated the album of Franco Battiato "L'Egitto prima delle sabbie"

I have given 5/100 and other suscriptor 15/100, this album has only this 2 ratings.

However in the average for this record I see 68/100 😲 😲

how this is possible?
