Shortly followed by Queen's Greatest Hits, ABBA's Gold and Eric Clapton's Unplugged. As far as not a soundtrack, compilation or live album, I'm guessing there's a (very) strong possibility it was The Eminem Show, which I heard when I was 8 or 9 and it freaked me the fuck out. It's what the kids as school had on their walkmans (walkmen?) and whatnot. American Idiot would've also been one of the first. I don't think I heard my first Beatles album (in full) until I was around eleven or so.

First album I listened to back to back must have been Elton's Goobye Yellow Brick Road. My parents where digging jazz an stuff like Count Basie but they had 3 pop records Wien I was very young: Abbey Road, White album and Yellow brick road.

... because she wouldn't let me get Nevermind. I understand that its kind of the opposite direction you should start in but its influenced so much of my taste. I used to run home from school just so I could listen to "Airbag", "Paranoid Android", "Let Down", "Karma Police", "No Surprises" & "Lucky" but never "Fitter Happier". That song scared the shit out of me and has got to be one of the largest underlining reasons why I'm so existential now. Than after that I'd probably say it was:

I was 10. My sister bought it for me. I learned how to sing harmony to this album...to this day, I can cover every vocal second of every song with harmony. I think it messed everyone up that I had it done at such a young age. Been singing ever since.

It amazes me that Sweet Baby James isn't as popular a classic rock album is it deserves to be. I guess James Taylor just isn't thought of as a hipsters darling as say Neil Young or some other great singer-songwriters of this time. Very few albums have this many great tracks on them or are as musically fantastic as this album. True, he only made one or two other albums this good but there's no denying how good they are.

Remember going to my mates house when I was about 12 and he had just bought this, thought it was amazing. Then had to save up my pocket money to buy a copy myself. Still enjoy listening to it .

I never would have had the patience to listen to a whole album for 40+ minutes when i was a lad.
I do remember listening to a Hits 98 compilation CD a lot, Mumbo Number 5, Blue Da ba dee, and Bring it on Back by S Club 7 were my jam 😁 The first album I remember listening to in full under my own steam was probably Made In Japan by Deep Purple.

But might be Joshua Tree or Graceland.

That I know for sure: Tom Petty Greatest Hits cause that's the first record I ever owned.

It's tough to say cause my family loved music, I was the youngest in my family, and we went on A LOT of road trips (business and family related).
