eh.. I don't agree with it but I wouldn't say it's appalling. One could argue that they aren't even punk, but then they're one of (if not the) best-selling bands that one could argue IS punk, so there's that. I'm more offended that Cock Sparrer didn't make the top 10.

I wouldn't say either are particularly good, but is there really that much difference in 21stCB and AI to you? They sound pretty similar to me.

Rolling Stone is a trash magazine in pretty much every aspect. I had a subscription for a year when I was in college. I wouldn't use it to light a fire today.

I am probably a bigger fan of Green Day than I am of any other punk band but even I know they're not top 20. Top 50 maybe.

Now that the list is laid out for you guys, do you think it's really that bad? Green Day is not the best, that part is obvious, but the poll at least got 80% good punk bands. other than The Sex Pistols(overrated) and Green Day(overrated other than Dookie), I see nothing wrong with this list. It wouldn't be my top ten, but the list itself doesn't deserve as much hate as this thread has given it. Of course, people are up in arms against Green Day. I'll be one to say that I hate Green Day. They have one good album which is Dookie, but they don't detract from the strength of the list itself.

Yeah I think they win the popularity and (um) longetivity circuit but they weren't in the least bit innovative. It was essentially Buzzcocks-meets-Clash-meets-Fugazi mash-up that got all radio-friendly enough to be become a hit. They're not a bad band; I used to be a big fan and all their records are pretty solid (of what Ive heard). They just didn't really move the Punk sound forward in any really special way, other than making it's "interpretation" of it popular for the 90s and new millenium.
