I don't go on facebook.

But I did listen to the music and I really like it. And I'm not big on rap so I would say that this is a good sign that people who love rap music should also like it IMO.

Had a meeting last night with the guy (DOX Phonic) and his producer (Eli Breaks/Droopy Roof). Super pumped now.

I was thinking of finding a mini-narrative (like a rap battle or something) and cut it in half, stick the rest of the documentary in the middle. That'd get the audience's attention and keep them attentive for the payoff at the end.

IMO this is well done, and maybe an option for you.

It starts out with the artist playing one of his songs and then there is a bit of interview and then back to the music. Then another song with again more interview and so on and so forth.

This kills 2 birds with one stone.

The artist gets his music heard while getting to know the artist better.

You could mix down the music volume yet keep it going in the background while the actual interview is happening.

Actually that pretty much describes the guy. He's an attention loving performing arts student with lots of opinions and not a huge amount of filter. Pretty much perfect for a doco.

Damn, I guess 1973 was a great year to do interviews 😁

Again, if you have a band that has a good sense of humor (or a Keith Moon type) Just turn em loose and play straight man.

What I like about humorous interviews, and this is definitely one of my favorites, is that it shows the band just being like friends and not all full of themselves.

I mean, consider the fact that the WHO were HUUUUUUGE in 1973 yet still acted like kids on a schoolyard.

It depends on the personality of the person/band being interviewed.

If they are charismatic and have a sense of humor (and really HIGH) then just let them go and do it off the cuff and spontaneously. Like in this interview.
