On another note, considering we brought up Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, I've never been able to like that album 🙁 , it's one of the hardest albums I've ever tried to like (next to Loveless I guess), and just can't 🧱

Same here. I have tried Yankee Hotel Foxtrot for a while now, and I still don't see what's so special about it. To make this a round-a-bout conversation, The Soft Bulletin is the album that I have tried the very hardest to like. That's probably because I like The Flaming Lips, just not that album. In fact I like At War With the Mystics better.

It's most definitely a grower, you have to want to like it I suppose. I think for me it helped that I was really into that whole type of music at the time, sort of country tinged rock like Flying Burrito Brothers, Nashville Skyline era Dylan etc..also I saw Wilco like 4 times right around then which always helps

As for the other comments, yes, I believe Yoshimi is that good. Might be because it was one of the first albums I ever heard, but even with 'clean ears', I still think it's great. Clouds Taste Metallic is ridiculously underrated on this site, not even in the top 1000. Great album. But as for number one 🤔

As for the last comment, we are all entitled to our own opinions 😇 And I think that it was the Lip's low point. It would have been Dark Side, but I've grown to change my rating of that from 40/100, to 50/100 just recently :lol:

CTM is underrated in general, and for most of that post I was just ripping out my inner Flaming Lips fanboy onto you....sorry.

I agree 100%. I have only one Flaming Lips album on my chart and that's the one. That's the album that made me a fan of The Flaming Lips and not just a casual listener.

I agree 100%. I have only one Flaming Lips album on my chart and that's the one. That's the album that made me a fan of The Flaming Lips and not just a casual listener.

I love Yoshimi, and it's pretty high up on my chart, but it simply doesn't have the colossus feel of The Soft Bulletin.

It would be a second though.

If I absolutely had to pick between these, it would be Kid A or Yankee Hotel Foxtrot... but these are still not necessarily the best albums of the '00s... I mean should Silent Alarm, Vampire Weekend, American Idiot, Yoshimi, Toxicity, or Demon Days really even be on this poll? They're all pretty weak (albeit popular) albums of the '00s, but we all know that doesn't mean quality.

From that list, Funeral. Easily. I like In Rainbows just a shade more and would have expected that to be there. But I'm guessing you wanted just one per artist?
