Really, the only person that I thought did a Who cover justice was Elton John when he did "Pinball Wizard."

Here's a really cool live perfromance of the song from Elton from 2005 in Rome. (Yes, Elton's voice cracks a little during his performance...but, hey...I just take that as confirmation that he's performing live and not a pumped-in lip-sync as so many artists do these days.)

What's funny is that The Who returned the favor by doing a wonderful job on an Elton John song: "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" from this tribute album to Elton:

The problem with Pearl Jam's version of L,ROM is that (at least on the recorded version, have to wait til i get home to youtube) there was very little change to the song itself, outside of a 30 year spitshine.

So if the song isn't changed that much in the cover, then the singer had better be way better than the original. Unfortunately Daltrey is one of the very few people in history with a better voice than Vedder (like an A+ for Daltrey versus a simple A for Vedder.)

Good homage, but I'll stick with the original most times.

I do give you credit for stating that you like a Limp Bizkit song at least.

But rarely have a heard anybody do a WHO song any justice.

And the Limp Bizkit version of BBE is no different for it seems like a band without much talent trying to use technology to improve on a classic song from 40 years ago just to bring attention to themselves. (which, as far as getting attention, they did succeed in doing)

But when you put it up against the WHO ( and this is not their best gig, but it has a lot of keith Moon in it 😁 ) it falls short of the standard.

Now Pearl Jam on the other hand did justice to the WHO with these two WHO songs. Maybe because Pearl Jam made it about The WHO and not themselves. Once again, humility is the key here.

Compare this to Limp Bizkit's BBE and you make the call.
