I'm not sure if any of her other albums are considered classic, but I don't think so. So she might be a one album wonder.

I actually found one that actually did worse than Arrested Development. He had a number one US album, but NEVER had another album that even charted AT ALL.

I have empirical proof that this is the all time top One Album Wonder. I have numerical evidence to prove it. Their debut album was a Number One album but their follow-up album didn't even crack the top 100.

Here are some actual one album wonders

In the same vein as Spin Doctors, a band who had one album chart really high and sell millions of copies. Most of these generally had a lead single or two that boosted the albums sales over others in the bands discography.

Those are pretty good choices,, but didn't Blind Faith only have one album? Maybe not, but I really like that album

Although the album cover is a bit dodgy, if you ask me.

Of course you don't think I listed their best album. That was my whole point. Most people would say that these artists have classic albums coming out the ass, but in my opinion they barely have even ONE. I don't see how it could be anything but opinion, let alone a consensus.

I agree. Little Miss Can't be Wrong is the best kind of radio song,, and the rest of the album was pretty listenable too, compared to much of the Rock music coming out at the same time

This is the inherent problem with this thread though, in so far as what exactly defines a 'classic'? Is it critical appreciation? Popularity/sales? The one everyone's heard of?

You could look at this thread from so many angles - Rumours might be considered Fleetwood Mac's only 'classic', but it's not my personal favourite (or in my opinion their best) by a long stretch, although it is the one LP that 99.9% would answer with when asked the question "name a Fleetwood Mac record". Given the Velvet Underground released 4 back-to-back works of art, VU&Nico is the undoubted 'classic' as it's the debut (ditto Pavement/S&E) and the one most people are likely to own/be aware of. Transformer is probably the only one of Lou Reed's solo discography that could be considered a 'classic', but is that because it sold more/had Bowie produce it so gained greater exposure/contained his biggest solo hit/etc, etc....? Ditto Iggy/Lust for Life.

Suicide is an interesting one as it's hardly a 'classic' in terms of an LP appreciated by the masses. However, to punks/alternative/no wavers it's legendary, and the rest of Rev/Vega's stuff pales in comparison. So yeah, when is a 'classic' not a 'classic'? Buggered if I know...
