Thank you. That's always the argument I make. If singers and rappers were the same thing, then why don't we call singers rappers? Answer: because they're not the same thing.

Almost all members of a band sing at one point or another, but that doesn't make them a lead singer. Eventually every person in a band is going to pipe up and be heard. They would just be a featured singer.

Comus has been a recent 2 singer act I have enjoyed (recent to me).

Otherwise I gotta say my taste doesn’t grant much credence to the whole 2 (or 3 singers) is better than one. On my chart I find no example of that until number 41 with

Each member of the Oak Ridge Boys have all done the leading at least once.

P.S. May my most favorite member of course be with the Lord, I love my late beautiful precious Steve Sanders so much. A little history about this act in case you didn't already know of it, is that all together, there have been over 40 members going all the way back to the mid 1940's and that their name then was the Georgia Clod Hoppers even though the group did originate from Knoxville, TN which is just an hour away from me. 😄 😄 😄

Just like you would separate guitarists, drummers, etc. by their instrument, singers, rappers, spoken worders, throat singers (notice the music that's attached to the word singer), etc. use the voice. It's all the same, just different styles, complexities, timbral palettes, etc. I think if someone specified a particular style it always helps, but if someone mentions 'singer' then I take it to mean anything that uses the voice (though I do still have a bias to assume that includes words)
