I would avoid Rubber Soul due to the disturbing final track. When I was a kid my sister and I had the Yellow Submarine Songtrack (not soundtrack), which was a great introduction to the band.

Awesome! Thanks, guys! I went with Hard Days Night since I already owned the deluxe version on cd & it has lots of great pictures. lol. (so yes, my daughter got a used copy which I wrapped in Reynold's wrap. lol)

I had bought 1 on vinyl a couple of years ago but her Mom doesn't have a turntable. Didn't realize it didn't contain Here come The sun! That's Tilly's song.

Anyways, I know it's freakin' awesome for parents to take an interest in their kids lives and introduce them to everything they're passionate about - whether it be playing basketball or shooting pool. Left to their own devices, kids will just play a shit load of video games & watch commercials about toys on YouTube. lol.

I bought my kids a copy of "1" each. They love it, but my little girl was a bit disappointed that "Here Comes The Sun" wasn't on it. They each have a collection of CDs, and take pride in them being their own. I get joy in bringing them things to add to thee collection. I encourage them to work out what they like and don't like, and to refine their own collections. "1" is a good length, all killer no filler, car trip album.

Revolver by The Beatles

1962-1966 by The Beatles

Revolver is fun, bright and sunny. Obv I agree that Yellow Submarine is a perfect song for kids. I think I'm Only Sleeping and Good Day Sunshine are appropriate too.

I reckon the red album too as their is something so immediate about thir early to middle period singles and album tracks. The Blue Album is great too with Strawberry Fields, Hey Jude, Penny Lane, Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da and Octopus's Garden.

Those songs are imaginative and upbeat. But I think Red album is a good starting point. Or 1's.

I agree to avoid White Album and Abbey Rd. Too many depressing songs in among the fun ons.

I think the first one I really got attached to was Rubber Soul. I think it's one their more consistent albums, although I like their later ones better.

My Dad had the blue when I was growing up - that's the one that I heard a lot and got me into them. Went on to full albums later, but by that time I was less into them.

I don't see the point in forcing specific music on children. Besides, I wouldn't buy my children any Beatles album because I already own them all. I would simply play them for my kids to see if they like them. And if so, let them decide which one(s) they like the most. My kids can borrow any of my Beatles albums any time they want.

good question... maybe I was weird but I was 11 when I heard Sgt Peppers and even through all the hype my dad laid on it, I was impressed. Its fun and playful. and colorful and there's a circus-y song in there and kites and meter maids and Ringo and there's that boring long sad song at the end that all the adults thinks is soooooo goooooood for some reason. Of course a year later I got a tape of Revolver from the library and I was officially sold.

But other than that, if your kids are between 5 and 8 maybe the 1s collection. I mean there's a lot of great song and pretty songs and fun songs there as well as more mature boring ones.

So I'd rank them
1. Sgt Peppers
2. 1s
3. Rubber Soul
4. The early years hits yknow the 62-66 collection.
5. Revolver (Yellow submarine! yayayayayay!)

just avoid Abbey Road or the weird af white album or the mellow and saccharine Let It Be or the latter days comp with the downers and Let It Be stuff. And if you wanna be cruel get Let It Be Naked...but nah.

Just curious on some thoughts. I already bought one for my kid but I had the hardest time deciding which one. Which one would you have bought?
