Vinyls are no different from CD's in sentimental value. You get something to play music and usually plastic and paper. Both maudlin 🙄

I'm not going scan this entire thread to see if my answer's been posted, but here's how I do it: Just unhinge the bottom-left corner of the CD case, lift the front off, and use it to peel the sticker off the back. Then simply peel the sticker off of the front with your hands. Finally, re-attach the front of the case to the back. Works every time for me, and I never have any gunk left over on the case.

Gary, a good solution is to re-surface your O.K. Computer disc with a DELTA 31-695 disc sander. I recommend 120 grit. That should really help with the noise problem. 😉
You folks have never heard of Goo Gone? It takes off sticker residue in seconds without any problem.

Thumbnail. Click to enlarge.

Anyway, I think the sticker is made to leave residue. It cuts down on the tampering with CDs.

Myself and my wife both worked in CD and DVD stores before becoming teachers. So the art of peeling stickers has grown over many years. The imported CDs with the stickers on the top: I just peel one side then the other, not caring if it rips. Haven't had many of these over the years.

every time I open up a new one I use a knife on the right (bumpy) side, rip off the plastic, then just straight up rip the case open with the sticker on. The sticker's much easier to take off once it's already ripped, and the prying open of the case never hurts it (so long as you have some finesse)

Use a knife between the label and the case to cut one side of the label. Grab the label and gently remove the larger side. Now attempt to get the remaining label off the other side starting at one of the top cut corners. 😈

Pledge can remove any remaining scum.

Curse during the entire process!

I hate it when the disc is so tightly secured ti the case that it squeaks and bends when you try to remove the disk.

I have scratched a CD ( a gouge actually 🫢 ) in a CD because of this and had to throw it in the trash without ever getting to listen to it 🙁
