Back in the 70s, Clapton, Page and Jeff Beck got compared a lot. Guess the Yardbirds had something to do with that....

I voted Angus. But again they are hard to compare.

Green > Clapton
Perry > Angus

Mayal wasn't particularly similar to Clapton as a guitarist. He was solid, but doesn't seem to have the same bite or burst or that Freddie King influence as much Clapton.

I think Angus compared to Joe Perry may make more sense and be a better comparison. As for Clapton? Maybe his competition could be Peter Green. IDK.

Although they're much more similar, Jimi is clearly the superior player of those two. At the same time though, when they both burst onto the scene, they were both huge influences on each other, which is why it's fair to compare them.

Agreed. Jimi is my favourite guitarist of all time.

I can see liking Angus better but the question is who is better and sorry but it is a pretty silly question as Clapton is light years BETTER, regardless of personal preference.

Not sure why these two were picked as they share very little in common apart from being guitarists but you'd have to go for EC. I love Angus but he's very much variations on the same theme whereas EC has far more variety and is a more accomplished guitarist.

Eric Clapton can play more than seven chords. Also, knowing what he is doing helps. Angus has admitted he just did "what sounded good" to him; works for some, doesn't for others. I've always found his playing boring and derivative.

People don't just get handed songwriting credits. If his name is in the credits, it's because he wrote or co-wrote the song. And if he's listed 3rd or 4th or 50th...the order in which the songwriters are listed means nothing. Unless it's a situation where the lyricist is listed first (which does sometimes happen).

If you are referring to Clapton...he co-wrote a lot of songs. He also covered a lot of songs. By himself, he wrote "Anyone For Tennis". He wrote "Presence Of The Lord" himself for Blind Faith...a really great song. He wrote "Wonderful Tonight" himself, a top 20 hit. He also wrote the hits "Hello Old Friend", "Let It Grow", and "Watch Out For Lucy". To insinuate that Clapton is not a songwriter, and that he has no sole compositions to his credit, and that he actually didn't write the songs he's credited with others on because of where he's listed in those credits is kind of ridiculous.

If you are referring to Young...all of AC/DC's material are joint compositions between Angus, Malcolm, and either Bon Scott or Brian Johnson.

Actually it's really common for people to get handed songwriting credits. There's hundreds of examples.
