For example, having the range be separated by 1s, 5s, 10s,20s, etc.. I personally like to rank things by 10s (e.g 0, 10, 20, 30 etc.) but I've also seen people put more precise scores in the comments (e.g. 78, 89, 94, etc.). It's also a bit annoying trying to select the scores on by picking a portion of the star.
