I think they pulled it off well in spite of their poor acting. They lampshade their flaws pretty effectively.

There is an awesome spinoff series called EverymanHYBRID with fantastic acting and more memorable characters, if you feel like continuing on the slenderjourney:

As well as a terrible spinoff with much worse acting, stilted dialogue and facepalm worthy attempts at exposition called TribeTwelve.

Just finished Entry #49.

Cheap thrills, poor acting, but pretty intriguing. I was easily hooked.

Anyway that was just someone's concept artwork. Slender Man was actually a pre-existing internet urban legend that Marble Hornets took to the next level.
