Since the same music can be different for everyone this should be common, only easy critical source rating copy and paste schemes makes it seem like it isn't.

I'd take Making Movies, their debut album, or even Communique over Love Over Gold and Brothers in Arms.

I'm not a huge Queen fan, but I've always considered their Queen II - Sheer Heart Attack - A Night At The Opera streak, in that order, superior to anything they've done after... I think their qualities are best shown through that early prog/pop/hard rock period, although I do like to listen to Innuendo once in a while, agree that it's underrated.

Queen is probably my favourite band but I think Queen II is slightly overrated among fans. Sure it's good, but clearly a step below the three albums that came after it.
On the other hand Jazz tends to be underrated because it's such a silly album, but I love it. Innuendo also can be considered underrated, since it's easily their best album since A Day At The Races.

I much prefer Floyd's Wish You Were Here over DSOTM any day, though I love both albums

I prefer lll to lV by Led Zep any day.

I prefer more mellow stuff sometimes to the full-on rock-out approach. But not always.

I prefer Moby's 18 over Play, but sometimes I think Last Night is his best album.

Some days I really love Goats Head Soup by the Stones and think Wow, maybe this is their best album. Over Let It Bleed and Exile On Main Street. But only now and again.. Satanic Majesties is a blast too.

Its good to mix things up.

And Bobby's right - Tusk is a great album. But Rumours is good too.

As for Bowie Hunky Dory always gets my vote. And that's canon fodder!! But Blackstar and the criminally underrated Diamond Dogs (again good call Bobby!) both deserve to be much higher. I love Ziggy, Low and Aladdin Sane too. I just do. But I'd like to see Man Who Sold The World and Station to Station much higher. And Scary Monsters for that matter.

One last one:
I prefer The Clash, Sandinista! and Give 'Em Enough Rope to London Calling. The latter has some standout tracks but too much filler for me. Its one of the most overrated albums ever. Rolling Stones Top 500 albums list placed it WAY too high. They got it almost right about how influential The Clash were but I reckon their debut is their best. And that the Pistols Never Mind The Bollocks is better still.
