also even at BEA's most active moments, the BEAMAs had their share of issues too given it was a popularity contest among the most active forum regulars than actual well-delegated thoughts; but i guess we get a pass since we cant give artists shiny awards in person

They probably aren't, but that's not the biggest problem. The main thing is that they don't care about acknowledging decent music, they give the award to the safest/most popular pick on their dreadful shortlist. Wouldn't be surprised if the big "record company" guys had influence in final voting tbh. It's all 'bout business.

So true lol, two excellent albums, which in itself is a rarity at the Grammys, and both snubbed. As well as Janelle Monae.
Also if one tried to determine the state of rock music by looking at their nominees, the conclusion would be that rock died years ago. Ghost and AiC are good albums but not worthy of a Grammy, and the rest was apesh*t. And it went to GVF which is a joke in itself lol. Also Masseduction as the best rock song? It's a decent song, but not rock and again, not good enough to be song of the year in any genre.
I am glad that This is America got so many Grammys though, it's a dope song with an excellent video.

Didn't watch, but I can't say I disapprove the winners for the AOTY or SOTY categories. Probably the best we could've hoped for.

To me, Alison Krauss should've been a part of last night's Dolly tribute, but maybe the reason why she wasn't is because she herself has more Grammy awards than Dolly does. 😁 😁 😁

I was honestly pretty happy with last year's nominees and the winners weren't too bad either so I was hoping the Grammys were making a turnaround but unfortunately this year's list is absolute shit. I guess I'll still post who I'm rooting for though:

Record of the Year: I Like It (wouldn't be unhappy with This is America or God's Plan)
Album of the Year: Invasion of Privacy... I guess? I haven't even listened to it but I loved the 2 singles.
Song of the Year: God's Plan, This is America, or The Middle
Best New Artist: I only know Greta Van Fleet and Due Lipa and I don't care for either.
Pop Solo Performance: God Is A Woman
Pop Duo/Group Performance: Havana
Pop Vocal Album: Sweetener
Dance Album: Singularity
Rock Performance: Four out of Five (such a shit list)
Metal Performance: Honeycomb
Rock Song: Masseduction (another awful list)
Rock Album: one of the worst lists I've ever seen. wouldn't want any of them to win
Alternative Album: I guess Tranquility Base or Masseduction. didn't really like either of them though.
R&B Song: Feels like Summer
Rap Performance: Bubblin (is God's Plan even a rap song?)
Rap/Sung Performance: This is America
Rap Song: Sicko Mode
Rap Album: Daytona (actually a pretty solid list)
Music for Visual Media: Call Me By Your Name, Ladybird, or Stranger Things
Score/Soundtrack: Black Panther or Shape of Water
Song for Visual Media: Mystery of Love
Producer: Kanye (Boi 1da had a good year too)

Grammys are a load of shit, always have been. I would have loved to see some love for Parquet Courts, Idles, Kids See Ghosts, AAL, Blood Orange, and MGMT. Oh well.

Pacific Daydream for rock AOTY? really?
I love Weezer and I think PD isn't that bad of a record, but I only see Get Right and Weekend Woman as the kind-of rock songs on an otherwise pure pop record. They don't get that nomination if it's not for Africa's success

I think it is a great album and a better listen then Damn but hey to each hs own certainly isn't close to bad in my opinion.
