Also regarding the polls, when you place a vote, you have to click again to go back to see the results of your vote. Is it possible to have it show the results immediately after you hit Submit, without having to manually check them every time? Or perhaps have this as an option in the preferences for those who don't want to see the results?

Gary, the problem with that logic is it would be the exact opposite. More poll entries would be like reducing the chart size to 10 from 50. More choices lead to a more abstract answer to the threads question. Likewise if only the top 10 albums from every chart counted towards the ranking, the website would give a much more abstract answer to the question it is asking. Likewise if the charts included every album you ever listened to from the day you were born with the one you liked least at the very bottom, the website would give the most absolute answer possible (but it would be a complete nightmare to pull off so I wouldn't suggest it as a direction for the website lol)

So anyway, it follows that more options would mean less in this case.

OK, point well made. How about a compromise of 20 options? That should cover off most of your scenarios without going too over the top. Not many bands have released more than 20 albums, and most albums will contain less than 20 significant tracks.

O.K. No big deal.

Though I must disagree.

For example, I have a poll for people's favorite song on the Beatles White album but I could only list 11 of the songs on it with an other option for the 12th. spot. And several people stated that their favorite song on the album was not listed.

So, I would guess these people might also disagree with you.

Also, for a poll on favorite album by a band, many bands have more than 12 albums, so albums must be left out.

I just don't understand how having more options in a poll makes it worse 😲

You increased the max chart size from 50 to 100 albums.

So then I guess the 100 album charts are worse than the ones with only 50 🤡

So if we went to album ratings of 1 - 3 instead of 0 - 100 that would make it better ❓

Yes, I think a poll with 40 options is too many. If you think that a *popular* poll here would get about 50 votes, having 40 options probably wouldn't yield a definitive winner anyway.

I can't see how a 40 poll question would be good for discussion 😕 At that point it becomes about numbers rather than the writing. In my opinion 10-12 would be enough options for any topic.

tried to create a poll that had about 40 different options that was a bit more personal but that was too many for the boards (If you read this albummaster, is that because it would be too taxing on the site?) so i guess everyone will have to be a little more objective.
