yeah another great album for sure however I prefer the first volume just a tiny bit. I know they confirmed vol III on twitter so expect that soon �'� . I hope they release a compilation of all the volumes together once they finish this 'The Juice' series

A better year for music than it originally looked like it was going to be. The highs weren't very high in comparison to other years in the decade but more all-around great projects than most years as well. Surprisingly to me I have the most hip-hop releases from 2019 (tied with 2016) in my 2010s hip-hop/r&b chart. Perhaps some recency bias in there, but i found so much great hip-hop in 2019 (largely thanks to Griselda Records), even if my hip-hop AOTY is much weaker in 2019 than other years.

2020 could be a big year for music, especially in hip-hop where it's likely a lot of big names and anticipated projects drop.

Rwanda, You Should Be Loved by The Good Ones

The Good Ones quietly dropped an album featuring Nels Cline (Wilco), Kevin Shields (MBV), Tunde Adebimpe (TV On The Radio), Corin Tucker (Sleater-Kinney), and Joe Lally (Fugazi).

Which is... an insane collection of guest contributions. Still a farm-folk-esque album, but with rockstars on guitar.

Thanks! yeah, Bandcamp's list is great. Couldn't remember if they were all on that list. Been digging through The Quietus' list as well.

I only got around to hearing Schlagenheim for the first time yesterday. Hadn't realized all the love it'd received until recently, and I didn't have a clue at all it was #4 on BEA's 2019 chart. Absolutely wild release... I'm still kinda in a daze after listening to it, there's a lot to process. Don't think I've ever heard vocals like that. Enjoyed it quite a bit though.

Pies Sobre La Tierra by Mabe Fratti

Which is lovely. String-lead ambient dream-pop, but almost with a lo-fi twist. Very warm but distant at the same time. Worth a spin. Don't think the cover does it justice at all.

Shawn Mendes, LOLOLOL they really have gone all in on t he "HELLO, FELLOW KIDS!" appeal. At least Rolling Stone's choices don't even hide their out-of-sync dadrock joy. On the actual songs, they could be worse, but still... (and even though I don't really like it that much I can now say I've heard "Bad Guy" in twelve different translations, three-to-four of which I actually have some familiarity with the language, so ironically it's probably going to end up as my most listened-to song of the year. You win, instagram.)

I think it's just too monotonous musically for me to really get into. All of the songs on that album are great lyrically, so I wouldn't say there are any bad songs on it. But All My Happiness is Gone, Margaritas At the Mall, and Nights That Won't Happen are all among my favorite songs of the year and I'm pretty surprised they didn't pick one of those for the list. Of course when I read these lists I assume whoever is making them has the same taste as I do, which is a bad assumption 😄

Snow Is Falling In Manhattan is the worst song on the album?? Well I'll be damned, it would maybe be my pick for the best song there. It has excellent lyrics at the very least. But yeah, the list was decent.

Top 10's definitely decent. Didn't think Bags would land so high, and I don't care for that Bad Bunny track at all, but I'm cool with the rest. I still can't really get into 90% of the cloudrap/trap scene 🙁 Nearly every hip-hop track off the list isn't my thing (Danny Brown, Rico Nasty, and Maxo Kream as exceptions). The only 'cloud' one I can seem to enjoy is Lil Uzi. Like I said, would've loved to see some MadGibbs... maybe Little Simz, Billy Woods, Earl, Mavi, Quelle Chris, Slowthai... Pissy Pamper's getting praise everywhere, but I'm finding it just a bore.

Giving what I haven't heard a spin right now. Digging this Four Tet track.

Sidenote, surely I'm not the only person who thinks All Mirrors is better than Lark?
