Regards comments, I think these might stay as they are for the time being; but I like the general idea of being able to filter comments & reviews, so maybe that could be added to the list of future changes. (There could be a drop-down list or something when you add a comment with a choice of 'comment' or 'review' and users could then filter on this).

Good thinking there CellarDoor. Tagging (as I have discovered on Tumblr) is a great way to narrow down searches and discover more music relative to yourself.

In regards to the comments, maybe an option of tagging your comment as review, comment, other so people can choose what they wish to look at.

I just want to say that I appreciate the fact that it would not be possible to get this particular group of talented individuals together who are interested in writing (as I have previously stated) "semi-professional" music reviews, if not for BEA. I completely understand that it could be seen as rude to have the planning of another site on this site, I guess I didn't want to have discussions elsewhere because to me that would seem a helluva lot more shady and a helluva lot less plain and explicit. I like BEA the way it is already, if I wanted to read long winded reviews, I'd go elsewhere.

Jheriko's idea on the other thread is a good one for some of the guys on here who want to have a stab at writing professional reviews, and I don't see how it detracts from anything going on over here. I'm sure that none of the regulars on here are planning on permanently 'jumping ship' 🤣

Mutiny? what the hell is going on? how did a random fun conversation get turned into such a harsh accusation?

Dictionary definition of Mutiny: open rebellion against constituted authority, esp by seamen or soldiers against their officers

This has really got out of hand...this isn't some big conspiracy....argggh I can't believe I even have to explain myself.

Yes, there's nothing to stop people posting reviews already. You can write anything in your comments, and what is s review if it's not a type of comment? In addition, your rating is already shown alongside each comment making it quite clear what your opinion is of an item.

People could simply do a review for it. Or one that they so chose.

Yes, I think that something like that would be done if we go this route.

An issue from the other thread is editorial control over which reviews are presented and also the overall mark to be awarded. On BEA, the overall mark is the average rating and which reviews are posted first could be controlled by community vote via the 'helpfulness' votes in much the same way that other sites do (e.g. Amazon).

BEA does not have an editorial voice as such, and I'm not sure it would benefit from having one. Other sites do this well already e.g. Pitchfork, but they are mainly reviewing current/fortchcoming releases whereas BEA has more of a historical focus and is therefore looking at things in a different context.
