I'm not interested in Crazy Classic Life, its just seems too manufactured and generic, which was my main complaint with the whole album. Here's my review of the album I have in my 2018 chart for any of you that wanna get outraged 😁 :

Yeah not to be Mary Mary Qcontrary but I actually enjoy the message in Janelle Monae's song but am underwhelmed by the composition, which I have to say was one of my main complaints about Dirty Computer. Am a bit more admirable if not peronally moved by the Yves Tumor tune but will do some more listens as I sit on this fence.

I'm not interested in Crazy Classic Life, its just seems too manufactured and generic, which was my main complaint with the whole album. Here's my review of the album I have in my 2018 chart for any of you that wanna get outraged 😁 :

I went into this with pretty high expectations, considering all the positive reviews. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. This album comes across to me as another manufactured generic pop album. Yeah sorry, I'm truly happy other people were able to find enjoyment out of the album, but I was not one of those people. I'm just being honest, not here to argue. My vote goes to Yves Tumor.

I get your point and I accept it to a degree. Yeah, money is a big issue, but it goes deeper than that. Poor white criminals get more lenient treatment than poor black criminals, and likewise with rich white criminals and rich black criminals. There's also a huge disparity in enforcement patterns that determine who actually gets into the courtroom in the first place.

Also, the marijuana thing was my example, but I would note that Janelle Monáe is not just talking about race. She's making a broader point about race, gender, and sexuality.

Something I'd be able to but into if it was 1969, not 2019. The pendulum has swung. Everyone bought Smollett's hoax hook line and sinker until the evidence became so overwhelming there was no possible way of denying it. Right before that, everybody wanted to destroy Catholic school kid until the full video was released showing the drummer to be the instigator of the confrontation. Before that, it was Kavanaugh, or UVA or Duke Lacrosse. It was everyone buying into the "hands up, don't shoot lie until forensic science proved that couldn't be the case. It was the complete ignorance of the rampant use of excessive, often deadly force in the Albuquerque PD... where most of the officers involved were Hispanic and the victims were often white. Recent history is full of these things. Right now, the first inclination for most of society is to assume the worst about whites/males, and give others the benefit of the doubt.

Even incarceration rates are changing dramatically. US prison population peaked in 2009 and has been dropping steadily overall since then. During that time, the black prison population has declined 22%. Yet even though there is a trend in prison depopulation, white prison population has actually increased by 4% during the same time frame.

And as for who's mistreating whom based on race, gender, or sexuality, FBI statistics (mostly collected under a Black President/Attorney General) show blacks committing hate crimes at three times the rate of whites.

I can tell this is not going to be a productive line of conversation going forward. While I have a fact-based rebuttal to every one of your points, it would be a waste of my time to engage in what would spiral into a lengthy argument about who's actually oppressed in America (one that I know from past experience would be conducted in bad faith). White victimhood ideology is a hell of a drug.

Hmmmm I think Noid has a more original hook but ultimately I think CCL is the better constructured song and more subtly interesting in its textures and variety. I voted for Janelle Mionae.
